Publix I'd like to thank all the riders who attended the Inagural Festivus of Speed, it was EPIC!!! From the 1 hour and 20 minutes it took the P,1,2 to go the first 40 miles at the Circuit race (out of 80 miles) to Ricardo saying, "I go again" after finding out he tied with Ralph Clemente and Brett Park during Sundays motorpaced sprints at 37 mph. And then going 38 mph in a cross headwind for the win. From Ralph Clemente breaking his collar bone in the Sunday Pro, 1, 2 crit. to the cat. 3's blasting through their last 12 laps in the Sunday crits. as prime laps fell from the sky and with 3 laps to go seeing a $95 crowd cash prime!!! From Dave Reilly winning the 30+ race on our home turf, at our race, with our sponsors watching to having 3 t.v. stations show up to film the race, sitting in the bed of the Williams Company truck pacing the Pro, 1, 2 during their 1 hour and 40 minute criterium. From 54 category 4/5's swarming the road for their circuit race on Saturday to 2 women 1,2,3 fields over 15 riders each day. All kinds of cool things happened behind the scenes also. With the exception of the four racers on our team not 1 person on the club had ever even seen a bike race!!! The support you got was from a group with NO experience putting on a race!! Check out the Saturday and Sunday results and out some photographs; coming soon video!!! Some stats: we paid out $4,600 in cash and over $2,500 in primes, prizes and awards. We had 271 athletes on Saturday and 344 athletes on Sunday. We appreciate the riders who traveled from Texas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina to come down here and ride with us.
